Funding comes from non-profit financial institutions, individuals, and banks or foundations who share our values.

We’re building a network of pre-vetted installers to deploy our replicable model, making the design, permitting, and installation process smooth for congregations.
-
We schedule the battery’s usage to maximize benefits to the congregation and the grid.

Congregations start saving on their electricity bill from day one. We take a share of the savings to repay our funders and to cover our expenses.
We’re actively looking for partners interested in launching a pilot site with us. Reach out if you are interested!
Congregations of all faiths welcome
We’re dedicated to supporting all faiths in harnessing the benefits of clean energy infrastructure.
At the moment, our initial focus is on medium and large houses of worship:
Within California’s PG&E or SCE service territories
Use commercial electricity rates for mid-sized and large buildings. Within PG&E, this is B-10 or B-19S. For SCE, it is GS-2.
May or may not already have solar
How it works
Rain Barrel’s model turns a penalty for large houses of worship into an advantage: reducing energy bills, greening the grid, and building resilience.
