Rain Barrel is incorporating as a Benefit LLC, a designation that best enables us to connect congregations with funding and reflects our mission.

Daniel Palmer

Founder

Daniel has spent the last 10 years working with community institutions, the public sector, and small and large businesses to support the energy transition and to address systemic barriers to financing and public services.

Before starting Rain Barrel, he managed public-private partnerships in the Bay Area and South Bend, Indiana, led the process to hire 400+ community health workers in under six months during the pandemic, and helped two climate-focused startups scale.

Daniel is a parishioner at St. Francis Cabrini parish in Littleton, CO.

Walter Jove

Technical lead

Walter leads Rain Barrel’s energy system analysis and optimization work.

He has built expertise in evaluating complex energy and physical systems across technical roles in multiple climate change-oriented startups, including as the Analytics and KPI Program Lead for OptiWatt. There, he built data infrastructure to optimize electric vehicle interactions with the energy grid in the Bay Area and nationally, building on his 7+ years’ of software implementation experience.

Walter lives in the East Bay and is a graduate of UC Berkeley.
